The Voice of Bereaved People
NACEL recognises the importance of engaging with bereaved people. The audit held focus groups to bring the voice of bereaved people, speaking on behalf of their loved ones who had died, and of themselves, to the heart of the NACEL redesign. Their views helped identify priorities for improvement in the audit. The NACEL team will continue to engage with focus group participants in future work.

We are sharing this with the public because NACEL hopes to hear from more bereaved people, so their experiences can help improve care at the end of life. If you would like to share your feedback, please contact your hospital's PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) team.
In June 2024, NACEL were announced as a commended entry in the Patient & Public Involvement category of the Clinical Audit Heroes awards, which are an integral part of Clinical Audit Awareness Week, for the work that was undertaken with the focus group participants.
