Mental Health 2025 Spotlight Audit - registration now open!

The NACEL Mental Health Spotlight Audit will run alongside the audit for acute and community hospital providers in 2025.
The audit will build on the learning from the 2021 spotlight audit, and support a national understanding of care delivered at the end of life across NHS inpatient settings.
The audit is open to all mental health inpatient providers delivering care to adults (18+) in England, Wales and Jersey. The NACEL Team would like to invite eligible organisations to take part by registering below.

The audit guidance and data specifications will be released over the coming weeks to allow organisations to prepare for data collection opening in January 2025.

Thank you for your continued participation in NACEL 2024. Data collection for NACEL opened on January 1st 2024 and participation rates continue to increase. See an update on data submission figures below.

NACEL 2025 Mental Health Spotlight Audit

Alongside the current audit running in acute & community hospitals, NACEL will also feature a spotlight audit of Mental Health inpatient providers in 2025. This spotlight audit is intended to build a national picture of care delivered to dying patients and those important to them, and support healthcare providers and policy makers identify areas for improvement.  

A pilot is currently ongoing to allow Mental Health inpatient providers to review the data specifications to inform the scoping of the audit, ensuring the questions we’re asking are relevant, useful and feasible.  

Registration for the NACEL 2025 Mental Health Spotlight Audit will open in October 2024, with data collection expected to commence in January 2025.

We are pleased to announce that improvements have been made to increase the processing time of the NACEL Data and Improvement Tool! Charts should now be appearing at a quicker pace in comparison to last month.

The NACEL Data and Improvement Tool (DIT) is now displaying data for the Quality Survey, Staff Reported Measure and Case Note Review. To view your organisation’s findings please login here.  

If you don’t yet have an account and would like access to the DIT, please register here. Once registered your organisation’s Site Administrator, usually the Project Lead, will need to approve your request. Once approved you will be able to access the NACEL DIT.  

If you are a NACEL Site Administrator for the DIT, please continue to check for any pending users and grant access. Staff will not be able to access the DIT until access has been granted by their organization’s NACEL Site Administrator(s).
